Description

Synergy Bioscience is hiring a Business Development Manager to bring in new projects and generate revenue for our CRO business.

About Synergy Bioscience

Synergy Bioscience is a contract research organization (CRO) offering pharmaceutical product development services, analytical chemistry, and microbiology testing to partners in the life sciences industry. Our mission is to accelerate clients’ product development and commercialization timelines while protecting business confidentiality and delivering timely, world-class services.

The Opportunity

  • We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager who has an established network of potential clients and is able to bring in new projects for our laboratory testing and drug product development services.
  • This is an on-site role where you will be measured on outcomes — new projects and signed agreements — rather than activity metrics.
  • You will work autonomously to build a pipeline and convert prospects into client partnerships, focusing on net-new clients rather than expanding existing accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate prospective client needs to identify fit for Synergy Bioscience services.
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies to generate new project opportunities in pharmaceutical testing, analytical chemistry, and microbiology services.
  • Maintain ongoing two-way communication with prospects during the sales cycle to set proper expectations and represent Synergy Bioscience professionally.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams to track project status and spot potential issues or additional opportunities during onboarding and handoff.
  • Present Synergy Bioscience capabilities clearly and persuasively to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Achieve assigned sales targets for profitable new-project volume and support strategic growth objectives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • University degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or equivalent advanced degree (MSc or PhD preferred).
  • Proven business development experience within a CRO, CRDMO, or pharmaceutical testing/service provider environment.
  • Minimum 10+ years of B2B sales experience with demonstrated ability to prospect, negotiate, and close complex service contracts.
  • Strong deal-closing skills, sales planning and prospecting capability, and a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Goal-oriented, persistent, and an effective negotiator who takes initiative and also collaborates well with internal teams.

Why Join Us

  • Be part of a mission-driven CRO that supports life-science partners through critical analytical and development services.
  • Opportunity to build a new business pipeline with a clear impact on company growth and revenue.
  • Work in a collaborative environment where technical expertise and client focus are valued.
  • Compensation: Base salary starts at $70,000 per year with a $10,000 base increase each quarter after meeting quarterly sales targets (on-target annual sales: $12M).
  • Commission: 3% commission on the revenue you generate, paid monthly.
  • Benefits: Healthcare, dental, vision, 401(k), two weeks (10 days) PTO, and two floating holidays; benefits begin after a 90-day probationary period.
